Top 50 Tracks of 2010: Pink Mist – LongerDecember 12, 2010
Nothing shows off Pink Mist’s Hawaiian roots more than Longer which rides a surf beat and some exceedingly bright six-string outbursts into the twilight. There’s reverb aplenty and d/b/a “shoegaze” tag doesn’t really show up until the final minute or so, when the guitar is given some breathing room, expanding and filling the open space above the insistent beat.
Be sure to check him out over at bandcamp. In addition to the shoegazeriffic Calm Down, he also is sporting some new, much quieter bedroom pop inspired by his newborn child, much of which was recorded on silenced instruments during naptime.
