Top 50 Tracks of 2010: Arno – All the Young Dudes

December 9, 2010

24. Arno – All the Young Dudes.mp3

Arno envisions Bowie as a proto-Jim Carroll, delivering the verses in a matter-of-fact drawl, shot full of seen-it-all cynicism, delivering pointed statements with the tossed-off casualness of a grocery list. Or a catch-all obituary.

The chorus breaks down closer to the original over an engaging bit of electro-industrial beatboxing.

The rest of the Top 50.

  1. If Beck had been born in London instead of L.A. he may have sounded like this…sweeeeeeeeet selection!! Jeez Cap, if you wrote lyrics, they would be catchy as hell.

    • I like your comparison. Arno does definitely have a little Beck about him, especially in the laidback delivery.

I’m not much of a lyricist, though. Most musicians like to have their tracks come in under 1,000 words.

    • Hmm, maybe here’s you chance to start your own musical genre to climb to the top of: Songs with over 1,000 words. If I recall from a past topic, all you need is two others to do it and you’ve got your genre.
