The Top 50 Tracks of 2010: Luger – Swastika Sweetheart

December 7, 2010

26. Luger – Swastika Sweetheart.mp3

With a name like Luger and a track name like that combines lust and button-pressing, you’re bound to raise a few eyebrows. And in keeping with the Germanic tone, Luger delivers some of the rockingest Krautrock in ages, borrowing rhythmic ideas from Neu!’s speedier bits, while adding an incredible amount of blazing organ tones. They then flip the Krautrock script, bringing a hard-charging guitar into the mix.

It’s exhilirating stuff, comparable to half the cuts on Primal Scream’s brutal XTRMNTR album or Death in Vegas’ more amped-up moments.

Load up on Luger here.

The rest of the Top 50.

  1. Ich mag es. Ja.

    • Ja. Es ist ein kleines Monster rocken, nicht wahr?

  2. here´s the great music video of this song

    • Thanks for the link, davuria. I’ve taken the liberty of embedding it.

  3. Now we’re talking. Lop off a minute from the beginning and there’s a track I could see putting in my top 50 of 2010…if I could actually come up with 49 others that deserve to be on my list.

What I really want to know is how they convinced Hitler to do a cameo in their video. I think he’s aged pretty well, all things considered.

    • SM, if you lop that minute off, it only leads us with 6 minutes which is dangerously short if you truly want to be considered Krautrock.

I suppose it all depends on who you know. Someone who knew someone whose brother could resurrect the dead for brief periods of time. And work some magic with makeup.
